30th ANNIVERSARY EVENTS
2026 marks the 30th anniversary of the Friends of the Mountain Bay State Trail,
and we have several events planned throughout the summer to celebrate!
Participants will earn points for all the events that they attend, and prizes will be awarded
at our anniversary celebration on September 26th.

POETRY/PHOTOGRAPHY WALKSelected poems and photographs will be posted along the trail from Shawano to Bonduel beginning August 15th.

This is the first of several guided bike trips we have scheduled this summer. This ride is appx. 11 miles long, and will feature Sturgeon Park, our Trail Center, the Ash Road fix-it station, and the manual assist crossing lights we've installed. |

NATURE BATHING ALONG THE TRAIL with Nikole |
This series of mindful hikes is designed to quiet the mind and engage the senses. Walks will be SLOW paced with multiple stops along the way. Hikes are designed to emphasize our senses of sight and sound and absorb the nature around us. Approx 1.5mi round trip. Please wear good walking shoes and bring bug repellent. |

NATIVE AMERICAN PLANT MEDICINES WALK ON THE TRAIL with Misty Cook |
The walk will begin at the Red Bridge in Bowler, led by Misty Cook, Author of Medicine Generations, Native American Medicines. We will learn about the medicines growing all around the Mountain Bay Trail. We will talk about the history, identification, gathering, drying, preservation and usage of these Medicines from the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans Tribe. Round Trip Distance .5 Mile. |

TRAIL GARDEN RIDE appx. 7 miles - Park in the lot just off of Eberlein on the west side of the road. Meet at the wildflower planting just off of Eberlein Park Road (down from Kwik Trip/Walmart). Our Friends group worked with the Wolf River Wild Ones on this planting a few years ago. Members from the Wild Ones will have a special event on our trail on August 15th. We'll ride to Sturgeon & Yellow trail County Road M by Little Rapids Corp., to Airport Road and back to Eberlein Park Road. |

Members from the WRWO worked with the Friends of the Mountain Bay Trail to establish a native planting along the trail, and they'll speak about the plants and benefits. Participants can plan to bike or hike the trail after the presentation. |

Selected poems and photographs will be posted along the trail during this time, and community members are encouraged to walk the trail and read, reflect, and enjoy the trail in a new way. This self-guided walk will feature selected poems and photographs displayed along an approximately 6 mile section of trail from west Shawano to Thornton. Click here for more details. |

LEARN ABOUT GEOCACHING ON THE MBT |
Learn to geocache! It's a fun, free, great family activity. We'll walk appx. 1 mile round trip. Come prepared with walking shoes, water bottle, bug spray, and a device that has the Internet. We'll help you download the free app, go through the fundamentals of geocaching, and search for several caches along the trail. |

Student artwork will be displayed on the Mountain Bay trail near the Visitor Center on Main Street for our 30th Anniversary event on Saturday September 26, and all artwork submissions are due by September 17th.
